A couple of weapon progression changes were made in the flipped world (don't dig up) that I find interesting.

Bubble Gun and Aqua Scepter have been swapped
Magic Dagger and Wand of Sparking have been swapped
I've also noticed that Keybrand has had its damage reduced but I don't know if/what it was swapped with.
Edit: It may have been swapped with the Katana
Chain knife also had its position swapped
Ice Bow may have been swapped with the Snowball Cannon, but It doesn't feel like it was (ice bow had base 39 damage, snowball cannon has base 22 in upside-down world)

Welp. I did it. I present what I believe to be the first proper map for Terraria 1.4.4, a minimal skyblock map based on the Shimmer transmutation mechanic as well as the new special seeds.

Not broken. Just not approved yet. In the past they approved my projects between 1-5 hours, but it could take a day. 1.4.4 Discovery/Content Discussion Thread (9)Steam works for getting the Expert difficulty, and my discord also has the files, and that's in the steam page description.
Edit: It's finally up.

Any projectile that hits the shimmer will be inverted in its vertical trajectory while preserving any ramping velociy. However, attempting to fish in shimmer will cause you to become shimmered. Useful for certain puzzle applications.

Shimmering the Angler turns him into a kappa.

Actually different projectiles are different when entering the shimmer

There's some massive problems I found with building on the surface on the Don't Dig Up seed if you're crazy enough to try it.

1. Way less Corruption is needed near by to make a house too corrupt. For example, you can't slap a Torch on a Sky Island house. You need to break all the Corrupt Grass first.
2. The Dryad doesn't sell Purification Powder. You're going to need to find the Aether if you want any hope of purifying anything before Hard Mode.
3. Pylons on the surface of the Don't Dig Up Seed always count as the wrong biome. The only good news is the Magic Conch brings you to the Surface Ocean

Oh really? This does slightly affect my map. That wasn't on the wiki page until now either. Transmuting the powders is fine. Having the forest not work is expected, but I would have imagined the other pylons would work with a pure biome up there.

What you just lead me to find out is that the clentaminator and solutions aren't available anymore in Remix. Is there no alternative for that? What about post MoonLord?
EDIT: Hmm, in a remix world with all bosses dead steampunker sells no clentaminator or solutions, even when holding the clentaminator.

I know the Jungle Pylon doesn't work because I built right on top of the Jungle Temple.

And... oh... crap. I'm so bringing a Clentaminator from another world after I beat a Mech Boss. The only other option is taking the Demolitionist's Advice. "Why purify the world when you can just blow it up?" Hand your wallet over to the Cyborg and unload your Celebration Mk2 into the nearest everything that exists!

Has anyone figured out how to get the bottomless honey bucket or the honey absorbent sponge? The recipe for Ultra absorbent sponge calls for lava, super and honey absorbent sponge.

The Angler has a 50% chance of awarding either if he asks for a Bumblebee Tuna and you turn it in. In Expert/Master, this is guaranteed.

Good news. The jungle temple bricks no longer count towards the jungle biome in a Remix seed. Try again.

there’s an echo variant made while in the graveyard mist, and it’s crafted from a stink bug at a crafting bench. It blocks the spawns of town NPCs in the house it’s placed in

I know there's not much life left in this thread as the bigger secrets of the update have been roughly filled in on the wikis. I'd like to reinvigorate it a bit to take a deeper dive for map creators and automation players.

They have nerfed and will continue to nerf shimmer. 1.4.4.4 removed the shimmer invulnerability from boss damage, and they implied they'll do something for invasions next... Not sure why they didn't just do the same for certain invasion enemies already. The money exploit of buying and selling the materials from timers and copper tools was also "fixed" by blacklisting them from shimmer uncrafting... I hate this method, better to change what's given back or adjust prices. I based my whole shimmer skyblock map on the understanding that people could break down their axe and shortsword to have 33 dirt blocks and 6 platforms available..... anyway, I gave up sleep and made a workaround.

I've noticed some crazy unique behavior to the secret seeds. Firstly, The Zenith seed seems to do almost nothing code-wise by itself, It changes the world icon, and enables the flags for all other secret seeds at once. In TEdit you can edit which ones are toggled on or off. Most of the Zenith specific behavior comes just from having For The Worthy and Remix toggled on together, with or without Zenith toggled on. Examples: I mentioned the lihzahrd brick no longer counts as jungle in Remix. If FTW is also on, they aren't needed for spawning lihzahrds and flying snakes. They spawn on any blocks if the player is behind natural lihzahrd wall (good news for skyblock). Normally they'd still only spawn on their bricks. Normally lava slimes drop lava in Expert+. Remix stops that. Add FTW and lava bats drop it instead, but on all difficulties.

Remix does a whole lot by itself, and I still have questions. I'm still wondering about what changes at the surface other than worldgen. In a normal world, the surface updates growth and biome spread 6x faster than underground/cavern/hell. Does that apply to the remix seed or is it the upper cavern that gets boosted speed to go with it's weather effects? EDIT: Confirmed while streaming my map just a bit ago that indeed, the true surface does still grow plants and do biome spread 6x faster.... I didn't test if there was any exception to that at where spawn would be in the underworld, but I doubt it.

I'm gonna try and find out what certain Shimmered NPCs are based off of. Will update it here on this comment when I find out more + Only putting the ones I know.

Angler - Kappa
Santa - A nutcracker
Dryad - Her secondary appearance in Dungeon Defenders
Party Girl - The original Party Girl was based off of Pinkie Pie, so the Shimmered version is probably meant to look more like Rainbow Dash
Truffle - Fly agaric/Amanita muscaria, more commonly known as the mushroom power-ups from the Super Mario series
Dye Trader - Probably a type of ancient style
Princess - The Victorian mourning process and outfit for females at the time

imo they should have just removed the crafting recipes for the timers. Not many people are using the old method since the mechanic started selling them anyway.

1.4.4.5:

- All Torches are now transmuted in Shimmer to Aether Torches

F's up the ability to get ice or underground desert. All because they couldn't add a recipe to turn sand into sandstone or hardened sand. Or the ability to turn snow (or water for that matter) into ice.

Fixed shellphones being unable to be decrafted in Shimmer.

That's nice, but meh.

You can no longer obtain bones/Lihzahrd Bricks via Shimmer before Skeletron/Golem.

Nice try to mess me up, but I was ready for that one..... Although frankly I don't see that as destructive. Why block it? If someone can harvest enough potions and pianos to make necro armor or the whip I say more power to them. As for the lihzahrd bricks.... I have no idea. Do they just hate fun?

Fixed another exploitable item with Shimmer decrafting.

Don't know what this one is. Someone suggested it was the Flesh Cloning Vat and Decay Chamber conversion recipes. I can confirm they don't uncraft in shimmer, but don't know if/when they could have been.

I guess it's possible to make a building you can't destroy.

There should just be some way to flag an item when it has been bought from an NPC to make it impossible to shimmer. Way too many things are getting hotfixed away.

As for sandstone, hardened sand, and ice, I have no idea why these items have to be limited to the amount that originally spawned in your world.

I highly suspect they did not intend with shimmer to be able to do artificial biome creation from nothing, but only to like convert existing things from what seems to be hotfixes.
Seems like they want to leave all this artificial biome creation to be post Moon-Lord with solutions that are able to spread biomes.
Apparently you can convert Stone blocks to Ice with White solution and to Sandstone with Yellow Solution. That leaves hardened sand blocks. Maybe they want to remove them from game who knows 1.4.4 Discovery/Content Discussion Thread (24) They have very little use, but I doubt it as they are still nice looking. Who knows... (Edit: Actually dirt wall is replaced by unsafe hardened sand wall)

They nerfed the Summoner whip meta into oblivion 1.4.4 Discovery/Content Discussion Thread (26)

Obsidian armour lost 20% whip range bonus and 40% whips speed bonus, making it's dps redundant past pre hm and making it's closest competitor bee armour with minion dps being a competitor for high and constant dps in pre-hm. With this loss of whip speed and range, setups prioritising the exploitation of whip bonuses such as the sanguine + firecracker or snapthorn setups no longer as efficient or reliable.

The blade staff meta that was also a large part of the whip meta (insane dps) is now just, bad.

Blade staff lost 15% of its summon tag stack damage, which makes it a sanguine staff with worse dmg plus range, and with the lower amount of damage, it wont be able to quickly fend off hoards of enemies life it was once able to, as the stunlocked enemies wont die and then more will arrive

Stinky update 0/10

A pre hm armor is pre hm tier now? An early hardmode weapon is early hardmode now? That sounds more positive than negative to me. I love summoner so I'm glad they shook up the stale obsidian whip meta. It's fine for weapons to not be meta way past their intended tier, imo.
